Upon Ending

This poem captures the painful process of letting go of unfulfilled promises and lost hopes.

by Pam Verner

A sad memory
Of promises
Unfulfilled
And hope lost
Is painful.
But only
As it is dying,
As it is squirming,
Writhing,
And gasping
In vain
For each breath of air.
Once dead,
The struggle lost,
A surrender made,
It is painless.
